Today I decided my Friday post would be something different than the usual PEP’s of the week. Today I wanted to share with you the names of some of my favourite blogs and why I like them. I believe it’s important to acknowledge greats things when we come across them.
- Sustainable Personal Finance. I like this blog because it practices what it preaches. Mr. and Mrs. SPF are firm believers in living a sustainable and financially sound life and they live their life according to this belief. The tips they share on their blog are tips they have tested and tried and can vouch for. They don’t try to push ideals in your face, they just share with others what they have found effective. I too believe in living sustainable and I am glad to see others who have also made this choice. The coolest thing they have is their 365 tips. They literally have a tip for every day of the year on how to live sustainable. It’s like a challenge you can take on that is all laid out for you. I definitely suggest you stop by and take a look at their site.
- Sustainable Life Blog. I like this blog because of the personal story attached to it. Through blogging, Jeff is sharing his journey to living sustainable with us. He is opening his arms to joining him in that path. Jeff always shares personal experiences about why he is doing what he is doing. With every tip their is a personal connection to his own life. He also blogs about multiple topics, not just personal finance, which gives his blog an added appeal. His slogan is “I blog about finances, health and the environment, and try to focus on the places where they all intersect.” Just like in yoga, he is trying to find that ideal balance in his life. This is something I too am striving for and this is why I enjoy reading the chapters of Jeff’s life on this blog.
- Canadian Finance Blog. If you need to know anything about personal finance and live in Canada, then Tom’s blog is your one stop shop. This blog has tips on anything in finance you can think of. What I like most about his posts are that they don’t add complication. So many experts try to add complexity to the topic they are familiar with and all this does is make the message they are trying to get across unclear. Tom explains things in a way that even if you don’t know the first thing about personal finance, you will be able to understand his message. He makes the overwhelming world or personal finance simple and manageable. I personally have found his site very helpful in past years and I am sure you will too.
- Broke Professionals. Mr. and Mrs. Broke Professional are two very inspiring and courageous people. They have put themselves out there for all of us to see and made themselves very vulnerable. They have taken a major risk. You see, unlike many other finance bloggers who have a positive net worth, the broke professionals owe over $100,000. Through blogging they are sharing their journey on how they are getting out of this mess. This story is what is so inspiring. It shows that we can all have the strength to tackle even the biggest of problems if we put our heart in it. I have learnt so much in the short few months I have been reading this blog. I highly recommend checking out some of their articles and help me cheer them on to financial success.
- Financial Samurai. After reading just one post you can’t help but love Sam’s blog. I like Sam’s blog so much because he dares to go where the rest of us may never go. He discusses topics that most of us wouldn’t dare to bring up. Racism, bullying, marriage, divorce, debt, etc.; you name it, Sam has talked about it. He has been so brave because he has brought light to many issues that often get pushed under the rug. He has the ability to get others to share their opinions on these issues and suggest what they would do. This blog is not only informative but it also enlightening and character building. Every time I read one of Sam’s posts I learn something new about myself and how I feel about a certain subject. He is able to light that flame inside me and really get me self-examining. Thanks Sam for keeping me grounded and aware.
- How To Save Money. What I like most about this blog is how almost every post shares how the writer saved money that day or that week. Not only are the tips and deals they find great, but I love hearing about their personal benefits from the situation. For me, it’s like witnessing little milestones being reached. I can’t help but root for them and see where they are going to save next. It is great to actually hear and see that something actually works before you go out and try it yourself.
- Len Penzo dot Com. What I like most about Len’s blog is the suspense I feel when I check my inbox and I see his name. What the heck is Len going to right about today. Len has got to be one of the biggest thinkers and most creative people I have come into contact with. He never ceases to amaze me with his creativity. There are so many random facts, tips, and methods, I have learned from Len that it would take me weeks to list them all. He is like a walking encyclopedia that is actually fun to read. If you want some sound advice presented in an entertaining way, then check out Len’s blog. It will definitely be a good time.
- The Daily Green. If you want to be healthy, animal friendly, eco-friendly, and financially sound, then the Daily Green is your new best friend. Not only is this blog visually appealing but there are a plethora of articles on it dealing with living green. If you want green recipes, they got them; if you want green driving tips, they got them; if you want to make your own beauty products, they got the lists of ingredients. I love the Daily Green because they are always up on the latest technologies and goods that facilitate green living. It’s like breaking news everyday with the subject being mother nature and what we can do. I find this blog very informative and I have used many of the tips I have found on it.
- The Simple Dollar. I think what I like most about Trent’s blog is that he started at rock bottom. Trent started The Simple Dollar when his life was at it’s worst. He had dug the hugest hole for himself and now he had to get out. His entire blog is his personal story about how he got himself out of debt and the personal growth and transformation that occurred during that journey. He justs says it how it is; honest and true. He doesn’t try to adjust his feelings our viewpoints so they will appeal more to others. He is himself all of the time. I find his blog very bold and courageous and mostly inspiring. He has taken on the hardest challenge of them all, to change oneself and he has done a remarkable job at doing this. I too have embarked on the personal development journey, and let me tell you, it’s not easy. Thanks Trent for reminding me it is possible to change who you are and how you live your life for the better and that I can overcome any obstacle.
