Well, the last two weekends of ours have been busy to say the least. We hosted two garage sales in a row, one out of town and one in our own neighbourhood. We have been on the unclutter mission since we merged households last year when we got married. Both garage sales we multi-family events and I must say, having a team where everyone helped out with the set up, clean up, and sales, made it a lot less stressful than it could have been.
Here are our results from each weekend:
June 4&5, 2010- My husband and I made a total of $283.50. The overall profits of all the families combined was over $600.
June 12, 2010- My husband and I made $170. The overall profits of everyone was once again over $600.
With both weekends combined we sold over $1200 worth of stuff. Pretty successful I think. Our main goal was to clear out our storage area but the money is a nice bonus. Since we have been diligently putting money towards our debt and savings, we have decided that we will use the money we made for some “fun” stuff. In order to stay motivated with your goals, balance is key. We haven’t decided what we will spend it on yet but I will let you know what we end up using it for.
So, how have you done in your garage sales? What have you done with the profits? Share with us.
