The depletion of energy has become a major concern in this day and age. Many of us are making an effort to limit electricity consumption. Did you know that saving electricity is not only green, but it can also save you money? Here are 10 ways that you can limit your electricity use and pay less each month. 


1. Do an energy audit. This will help you see how much energy you use and if you are wasting any. It can help pinpoint exact areas that you can cutback on. 


2. Lower your thermostat at night. By lowering your thermostat by 10 degrees each night, you can save up to 10% on your bill. A cooler temperature is known to induce a more restful sleep too. 


3. Check your insulation. Make sure all areas of your house are insulated by at least 12 inches. This includes your attic. Having sufficient insulation can save you up to 20% per year.


4. Plant more trees. This shades your house and keeps it cool in the summer, limiting your need to run fans or an air conditioner. It also insulates your house in the winter. 


5. Check you wires and outlets for leaks. Also check your fuses and appliances. If there is a leak you can fix it.


6. Use fluorescent light bulbs. They use 75% less energy than normal light bulbs. They also last a lot longer so you don't have to replace them as frequently.
