How many times have you wanted to take your kids out to a sports game and found yourself cringing at the price? Lets face it, the average NHL hockey game can cost $300 ticket at minimum for example. Plus they are usually sold out. So how can your kids enjoy sports games at an affordable dollar?
Universities are the key! Why?
Variety: Most universities have teams in a variety of sports. I know for ourselves, our local university students play hockey, football, soccer, rugby, and basketball. Your kids could pick which sport they want to go and watch regularly or they can mix and match.
Accessibility: Most towns have more than one university so you have an option as to where you want to drive to. Maybe one is closer than the other. Also, tickets are more readily available and not sold out. This makes going to a game even a possibility.
Price: University sports event tickets can start as low as $5. This is a lot more affordable than the hundreds that pro games cost. Plus, they usually offer packages that include a hotdog and drink. You can feed the kids and take them to a game for one low price.
Support the Locals: Since most universities are attended by local students, attending a university sports event gives you and your family the opportunity to support your local talents. In some cases you might even get a chance to meet and talk to some of them and hear their story.
So next time you are wondering what to do with the kids, consider a university sports game. I promise it will be a night full of excitement and fun that won’t break your wallet.
